Facilitating Consumer Choices and Transitions
PANPHA members find that most consumers are unaware of the growing array of services available to them that can foster an independent lifestyle at wherever they call home. When they do need care, they find the health care system confusing and overwhelming as is the insurance system that purports to pay for that care. Assisting consumers in making smart choices about their long term health care needs and facilitating their transitions in lifestyle and living arrangements is a new role that PANPHA members readily embrace. They want consumers to see them as a partner that helps them remain healthy and active, navigates them through the health care maze and educates them on all of their options so they can make sound choices.

The North Star is reached when PANPHA members are:

  • Anticipating and responding to evolving needs of consumers.
  • Navigating the government, insurance and healthcare maze on behalf of consumers.
  • Integrating, connecting and bringing all parts of the senior services and chronic care continuum to the consumer.
  • Educating consumers on their needs and the appropriate, feasible options to meet them.
  • Offering social health models of care in place of institutional medical models.
